Ukrainian Fantasy Film ‘Mavka: The True Myth’ Set to Premiere in Czech Republic

The Ukrainian romantic fantasy film ‘Mavka: The True Myth’ will be released in the Czech Republic starting April 9. This announcement was made on the film’s official page.

Viewers will have the option to watch the film in both Ukrainian and Czech languages. Screenings are scheduled to take place in 20 cities across the country, including Prague, Beroun, České Budějovice, Česká Lípa, Domažlice, Děčín, Hodonín, Karviná, Králíky, Nové Město nad Metují, Nový Bor, Olomouc, Prostějov, Přerov, Rumburk, Semily, Vrchlabí, Vsetín, Vyškov, and Znojmo.

The film has already achieved significant box office success in Ukraine, surpassing 21 million hryvnias in revenue.

‘Mavka: The True Myth’ is produced by Film.UA and directed by Kateryna Tsarik. The film incorporates elements of Ukrainian mythology and demonology, centering on a love story between Mavka and a young biologist named Lukyan. The lead roles are played by Arina Bocharova and Ivan Dovzhenko.

The film premiered in Ukraine on February 22, 2026.
