Apple to Enhance Siri with Major Update, Adding Multitasking Features

Apple is set to roll out a significant update for Siri, aiming to enhance its functionality to be more in line with contemporary AI chatbots. According to Bloomberg, the new feature will enable Siri to handle multiple requests simultaneously, a departure from its current one-at-a-time processing.

Sources indicate that this capability is being developed as part of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, with anticipated releases later this year. Users will be able to combine commands in a single request to Siri, allowing for tasks like checking the weather, scheduling a calendar event, and sending a message all at once, without needing to issue each command separately.

Currently, Siri can process sequential commands without the need to repeat the activation phrases, but each action is still handled individually. This limitation has often led to perceptions of Siri being less user-friendly compared to newer AI solutions.

Bloomberg reports that this development is part of a broader initiative to enhance Siri’s capabilities. Apple aims to make the assistant more useful by improving its contextual understanding, user-specific information processing, and screen content interpretation.

The updated Siri and other features under the Apple Intelligence umbrella are expected to be unveiled at the WWDC conference on June 8.

In addition to multitasking, Apple is reportedly working on making Siri function more like a chat bot. The company is also developing a standalone app for the assistant and a feature that will allow it to gather and summarize information from the internet as part of an internal project called World Knowledge Answers.

This advancement is intended to enable Siri to perform more complex tasks, such as finding a photo, editing it, and sending it to a contact with a single command.

Separately, Apple is testing an updated system keyboard that promises improved autocorrect features and the ability to suggest alternative words, similar to services like Grammarly. A final decision on the rollout of this tool has yet to be made.

Recently, Apple has been working on both new devices and updates to its services. The company has already introduced the iPhone 17e, marketed as the most affordable model in the iPhone 17 lineup, along with the cheapest MacBook ever.

Meanwhile, discussions among industry insiders and media outlets are heating up regarding the next generation of Apple smartphones. Although the official presentation is still some time away, leaks are providing early insights into the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup, which may include a base model, Pro and Pro Max versions, and potentially new formats like an updated Air or even a foldable smartphone.

Apple is preparing a major update for Siri that will allow multitasking capabilities and enhance its chatbot-like features. This update, part of iOS 27 and other operating systems, is expected to be revealed at WWDC on June 8.
