Ukraine Requests Extradition of Midas Case Figures from Israel

The Ukrainian Office of the Prosecutor General has formally requested the extradition of Timur Mindich and Oleksandr Tsukerman, key figures in the Midas case, from Israel. This request follows procedural reviews initiated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).

According to Marianna Haiovska-Kovbasyuk, spokesperson for the Prosecutor General’s Office, the request was refined after identifying several procedural and technical deficiencies in the initial documents. The office, in collaboration with NABU, has since completed and supplemented 24 volumes of materials related to the case.

After addressing the identified issues, the finalized extradition request was submitted to the Ministry of Justice of Israel. Haiovska-Kovbasyuk noted, “Following the complete rectification of deficiencies and errors, the request for extradition has been sent to the Ministry of Justice of the State of Israel.”

In a recent interview, Alexander Abakumov, the lead investigator in the Midas case, indicated that NABU had submitted the necessary documents for the extradition request to Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko two weeks prior. He emphasized the complexities involved in extraditing individuals from Israel, where comprehensive documentation of the criminal proceedings is required for such requests.
