The Iranian government has cautioned the United States against launching a ground military operation, threatening to intensify attacks on US allies in the region. This warning was articulated by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, during a statement reported by CBS News.
Ghalibaf asserted that Iranian forces are prepared to respond aggressively should US troops be deployed. He stated,
“Iranian troops are waiting for the arrival of US forces to ignite them and punish their regional partners forever.”
He further emphasized,
“Our bombardments continue. Our missiles are in place. Our resolve and faith have increased.”
In addition to the threats against US forces, Ghalibaf criticized a recent 15-point peace plan proposed by the US, describing it as merely a set of wishes. He claimed that the Trump administration is attempting to achieve through this plan what it has failed to accomplish through military means.
Ghalibaf stated,
“As long as the Americans seek the capitulation of Iran, our response is clear: we are far from reconciling with humiliation.”
Recently, the US proposed a peace plan that includes a key requirement for Iran to place 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium under international supervision. Iran has rejected this proposal, labeling it excessive, and has outlined its own conditions for ending hostilities.
One of Iran’s primary demands is a complete cessation of attacks against its territory, followed by compensation for damages incurred during conflicts. Meanwhile, the Trump administration is reportedly considering a ground operation in Iran, although there have been recent indications of a possible reconsideration of this strategy.
In a related development, the Pentagon has deployed Marines and naval vessels to the Middle East, citing the need to deter Iranian aggression. Pakistan is currently being considered as a venue for upcoming negotiations between the US and Iran, as indicated by President Trump.
