A recent investigation has revealed that the mother-in-law of Artem Shevchishen, Deputy Head of the National Police’s Main Investigative Department, owns a luxury apartment and parking space in one of Kyiv’s most expensive residential complexes, Tetris Hall, valued at over $430,000. The owner, Natalia Sporysh, is a teacher, and the origins of the funds used to purchase the property are unclear.
According to Hromadske’s report, Sporysh acquired a nearly 110-square-meter apartment in Tetris Hall in November 2019. At that time, the minimum price per square meter from the developer was around $3,500, suggesting the apartment’s cost could have been approximately $380,000, exceeding 9 million UAH at the exchange rate then.
Additionally, in December 2019, she purchased a parking space in the same complex, which typically sold for about $50,000 to $55,000. Consequently, the total market value of the properties owned by the police official’s mother-in-law is estimated to be at least $430,000.
Sporysh, 56, has no known business ventures and previously worked as a teacher at Boryspil Lyceum named after Pavlo Chubynsky. The institution confirmed her role in teaching Ukrainian language and literature, although she left before the onset of the full-scale invasion.
Questions arise regarding the source of her wealth for such high-value real estate. Artem Shevchishen, along with his wife Kateryna, resides in an apartment owned by his mother on Kyiv’s left bank, while Kateryna has been seen at Tetris Hall, where her mother holds property.
Kateryna Shevchishen, previously a detective, later became a certified lawyer and registered as a sole proprietor in April 2023. Her declared income from April 2023 to the end of 2024 exceeds 8.3 million UAH, averaging around 400,000 UAH monthly.
She has an Instagram presence where she markets herself as a psychologist and coach, offering services related to financial success through numerology and tarot. Despite her modest following, she promotes her expertise, claiming insights into financial prosperity based on birth dates.
On April 28, 2023, she published an article on cryptocurrency fraud in a Ministry of Internal Affairs conference proceedings. However, she also became associated with FANSEE, a project resembling a financial pyramid that promised users stable income through content monetization.
FANSEE encouraged investments in cryptocurrency in exchange for internal tokens, with projected returns of over 200% on investments. Despite its eventual shutdown, investors reported difficulties in retrieving their funds, labeling it fraudulent.
Kateryna attended an offline FANSEE investor meeting in Kyiv in November 2023, where individuals already implicated in another financial pyramid scheme, LIFE IS GOOD, were present. This scheme reportedly defrauded individuals across various countries, including Ukraine, out of approximately $40 million.
When approached for comments regarding her involvement with FANSEE and her rapid rise as a coach, Kateryna declined to engage and blocked journalists. Artem Shevchishen also refused an interview but provided a written response addressing inquiries about his mother-in-law’s financial background.
“The income used by my mother-in-law for the property purchase came not only from her salary but also from other sources, including property sales. Documentation supporting the legality of these funds was submitted to the bank,” he stated.
However, investigations found no assets owned by Sporysh that would justify such wealth. She had sold an older apartment in Brovary in 2018 for approximately $37,000.
In response to questions about their residence in Tetris Hall, Shevchishen noted that all required disclosures regarding property usage are reflected in his declarations. Notably, a day before the article’s publication, he submitted a new declaration stating that his family has resided in Tetris Hall since early 2025.
Regarding Kateryna’s connection to FANSEE and her substantial earnings, he remarked, “Her income has been declared according to legal requirements, and taxes have been paid. Please note that my comments are based on the information I have.”
Journalists have also inquired with the National Police about any ongoing investigations into FANSEE’s activities. Artem Shevchishen is known to be closely associated with Oleg Tatarov, Deputy Head of the President’s Office.
The mother-in-law of a senior Ukrainian police official owns a luxury apartment and parking space, raising questions about the source of her wealth. Despite her modest teaching background, the investigation reveals potential links to a controversial financial project.
