Court Hearing Postponed in Case of Former Ukrainian Speaker’s Murder

A preparatory hearing in the murder case of former Ukrainian parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy was scheduled for Tuesday at the Frankivsk District Court in Lviv but was postponed due to the absence of one of the judges on the panel.

During a brief interaction with journalists before the hearing, the accused, Mykhailo Stselnikov, expressed his distress over not being able to attend his son’s funeral, stating that he learned about it from fellow inmates. He remarked, “It is very hard that you cannot just attend the funeral. What can I add? I will not forgive these people. (Which people?) Our government,” he said.

When asked about the possibility of being exchanged for Russian prisoners, Stselnikov replied, “I will see how it goes.” He also alleged that $200 was stolen from him during the seizure of his property, questioning the integrity of the authorities involved. “Today they stole $200, tomorrow they will steal a gun, and the day after they will say that I did not shoot. No, I did shoot,” he asserted.

As the judges entered the courtroom around 11:00 AM, Stselnikov disclosed that prior to his arrest, he worked as a self-employed technician repairing household appliances and had no prior criminal record. He indicated intentions to file a complaint with the State Bureau of Investigations and the Attorney General regarding the stolen items.

The preparatory hearing has been rescheduled for April 1 due to the absence of a judge.
