Moldova has announced its readiness to join the coalition aimed at assisting Ukraine amid ongoing conflict. The country’s involvement is seen as crucial for contributing to collective efforts.
President Maia Sandu confirmed Moldova’s participation, stating, “We are already providing support to Ukraine through training for deminers. This is what we can offer, and we have proposed this if the coalition members agree to include our country.”
Sandu emphasized that joining the coalition aligns with Moldova’s constitution, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to international cooperation.
She added, “It is important for us to be part of these efforts. As I mentioned, our specialists can conduct training and participate in demining once the war in Ukraine concludes.”
The decision regarding Moldova’s membership will be discussed among coalition participants. Sandu noted, “This coalition includes EU countries and candidate states. I anticipate that a decision will be made in the coming weeks or months.”
The coalition is also considering the deployment of troops to Ukraine to prevent future aggression from Russia.
In January, a meeting of the coalition was held at the level of military commanders, focusing on enhancing security guarantees for Kyiv and strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe.
Moldova has expressed its intention to join a coalition aimed at supporting Ukraine, highlighting its ongoing contributions through demining training. President Maia Sandu stated that the decision regarding membership will be made soon, as the coalition seeks to enhance security in the region.
