Ukraine Secures Historic Medal at Indoor Athletics World Championship 2026

The second day of the 2026 Indoor Athletics World Championship in Torun, Poland, concluded with Ukraine adding another medal to its tally. On Saturday, March 21, 2026, eleven sets of medals were contested, with Ukraine participating in two events: the men’s high jump and the men’s 60-meter hurdles.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Ukrainian debutants Oleg Kukota and Dmytro Bahynskyi were unable to secure medals. However, in the men’s high jump final, national team leader Oleg Doroshchuk achieved a historic milestone by winning gold. This victory marked the first gold medal for Ukraine in men’s high jump at the World Championship, with the last medal in this category being a silver won by Andrii Protsenko in 2014.
