A Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Miami to engage in bilateral discussions with U.S. representatives. The talks are part of ongoing efforts to address peace negotiations amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian team includes key figures such as Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council; Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the President’s Office; Serhiy Kyslytsia, First Deputy Head of the President’s Office; and Davyd Arakhamia, Head of the parliamentary faction ‘Servant of the People.’
On the American side, the delegation is represented by Steve Witkoff, a special envoy from the White House, and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former President Donald Trump.
Prior to this meeting, it was announced that the negotiating teams from Ukraine and the United States would convene on March 21 in Miami, with Witkoff serving as the U.S. representative. President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his expectations for the Ukrainian delegation’s visit, highlighting the discussions surrounding preparations for a future trilateral meeting.
Zelensky also indicated that the Ukrainian representation in the talks aimed at concluding the war would consist solely of political figures, as there is currently a lack of ‘political will’ to cease hostilities, and Russia would not be participating in these negotiations.
