The Ukrainian company Pegasus Arms has announced a partnership with the German firm Rohde & Schwarz aimed at developing advanced solutions for aerial reconnaissance and electronic support for drones. This collaboration seeks to enhance the operational capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used in combat scenarios.
The initiative will integrate Pegasus Arms’ drone platforms with Rohde & Schwarz’s technology, focusing primarily on reconnaissance and threat detection prior to the commencement of active military operations.
Initial steps of the project have been outlined, including the development of concepts, testing solutions, and the configuration of a pilot system for evaluation. These phases are designed to transition from theoretical ideas to practical applications.
Illya Samoshkin, the director of Pegasus Arms, emphasized that the integration of cutting-edge technology from Rohde & Schwarz will significantly enhance the capabilities of their drones. He stated, “The incorporation of world-class solutions from Rohde & Schwarz opens entirely new possibilities for our unmanned systems.” He further elaborated that the Pegasus Arms 25 drone will not only transport payloads but will also gain new functionalities that could serve as unexpected challenges for adversaries.
The Pegasus Arms 25 is a heavy strike drone utilized for logistics and combat missions. Following the integration of new technologies, it is expected to acquire additional capabilities related to target detection and electronic support.
The company reported that over 1,500 of its heavy drones are already actively deployed in the battlefield, utilized by various units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces against armored vehicles and other military targets.
This new collaboration is anticipated to extend the operational functions of drones beyond mere strike and logistics roles. Aerial reconnaissance systems will be capable of detecting signals, tracking targets, and providing early warnings of potential threats. Electronic support will involve monitoring emissions to identify enemy communication and command systems.
The integration of such technologies is expected to allow for their deployment closer to the front lines, enhancing response times and reducing reliance on more vulnerable assets.
