Ukraine is set to enforce hourly power outages across all regions on March 19, as announced by the national energy company. The outages will be in effect from 08:00 to 21:00, affecting both residential and industrial consumers.
The decision comes in response to the damage inflicted on the country’s energy infrastructure due to recent Russian strikes. The company, Ukrenergo, indicated that the situation within the energy system remains fluid, meaning the specifics of the outages could change throughout the day.
This winter, Ukraine faced significant challenges with electricity supply, largely due to a series of coordinated attacks on energy facilities. The capital, Kyiv, experienced some of the most severe outages, as its energy infrastructure was a primary target.
However, with the arrival of warmer spring weather, the electricity supply situation has improved somewhat. The demand for electricity has decreased as households are relying less on heating devices.
On March 14, Russian forces launched another attack on energy facilities, resulting in power outages for consumers in Kyiv and several surrounding regions, including Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk.
Scheduled power outages will be implemented across Ukraine on March 19 due to damage from Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The situation remains dynamic, with adjustments possible based on energy demands and conditions.
