Qatar Expels Iranian Military Attachés Amid Rising Tensions

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declared the military and security attachés of the Iranian embassy, along with their staff, as persona non grata, ordering them to leave the country within 24 hours.

In a statement released on social media platform X, the ministry cited repeated hostile actions by Iran as the reason for this decision. The statement emphasized that further measures would be taken if Iran continued its aggressive behavior.

The expulsion follows a recent missile strike on Ras Laffan, a vital industrial and energy hub in Qatar. This incident has been described as a significant escalation in tensions between the two nations.

Prior to this, on March 18, the United States and Israel conducted strikes on Iran’s largest gas field, South Pars, as well as other infrastructure in the Assaluyeh region. These military actions have contributed to an increase in Brent crude oil prices, which surged by 5%, surpassing $108 per barrel, amid concerns over potential Iranian retaliation.

Qatar has expelled Iranian military attachés following a missile strike on Ras Laffan, citing ongoing hostile actions by Iran. This decision reflects escalating tensions in the region, particularly after recent military strikes by the US and Israel on Iranian infrastructure.
