Ukrainian Singer Leléka Unveils Revamped Eurovision 2026 Entry

Ukrainian artist Leléka has released a new version of her song “Ridnym,” which she will perform at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna. This updated track features a more prominent sound of the bandura, a traditional Ukrainian instrument.

In an Instagram post, Leléka expressed the significance of this version, stating, “This version of the song is truly special to me. I wanted to emphasize its roots and sound, so the bandura is more pronounced at the beginning. This instrument is very symbolic for Ukrainian culture, embodying our history, songs, and memories. Its sound instantly brings me back home.”

During an interview on the show “Weekend of New Music” on Radio Promin, Leléka discussed her decision to revise the song after performing several acoustic concerts. She noted that the acoustic setting felt more natural and beautiful for her.

“I had 28 or 29 versions of this song, and I didn’t want to make any additional changes. But after performing with the bandura, I felt a strong desire to highlight its sound even more,” she explained.

When asked about the vocal demands of the new version, Leléka reassured fans that it remains technically similar to the previous rendition. She mentioned that she has been taking care of her voice and has been working with specialists to ensure she is ready for the performance.

As for her preparation for the competition, Leléka hinted at changes in her team but kept details under wraps, emphasizing that they are focused on achieving victory.

Despite the competitive nature of Eurovision, she admitted to not following the bookmakers’ odds closely, stating, “I don’t really understand who the bookmakers are and what they do. I prefer to focus on my work and not get distracted by external factors.” Her team monitors the odds, but she chooses to remain uninformed.

Leléka also reflected on the pressure of being a contender in the competition, noting that focusing on external expectations could hinder her creative process. She aims to prepare thoroughly without letting the odds affect her mindset.

Interestingly, she mentioned that another act from Croatia, named Lelek, is competing this year, but she does not see it as an issue. Leléka believes that voters will ultimately support the country rather than the name.

In her closing thoughts, Leléka emphasized the core message of her song, which is about embracing one’s roots and overcoming fears. She hopes that European audiences will resonate with this theme during her performance.

Leléka has unveiled a refreshed version of her Eurovision 2026 entry, "Ridnym," now featuring a more pronounced bandura sound. She emphasizes the song's cultural significance and aims to convey a message of strength and resilience to European audiences.
