The U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Vitaker, stated that there are currently no public indications of Russian involvement in Iran’s military activities. He emphasized that there is no evidence to suggest that Russia is fighting alongside Iranian forces.
Vitaker noted that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Vitkoff had communicated assurances from Russia regarding its non-involvement. Despite these assurances, Vitaker remarked that even if Russia were to support Iran, it would unlikely alter the dynamics on the battlefield.
“But even if that were the case, it certainly does not help them, as the Iranians are facing serious defeats,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Western intelligence reports suggest that Russia may be providing indirect support to Iran. Reports indicate that Moscow could be sharing tactics related to the use of strike drones that the Russian military employs in its conflict with Ukraine.
Specifically, there are claims regarding the sharing of operational experience with drones like the Shahed, which Western intelligence suggests have unexpectedly managed to bypass the air defense systems of Gulf nations effectively.
