On March 11, a Russian delegation led by Kremlin special representative Kirill Dmitriev met with a U.S. delegation in Florida. The meeting was confirmed by U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff.
Details of the discussions were not disclosed, and Witkoff did not mention Ukraine in his statement. He noted,
“The parties discussed a range of issues and agreed to stay in touch.”
The U.S. delegation included Jared Kushner, son-in-law of President Trump, and White House senior advisor Josh Grunbaum. Dmitriev, who heads the Russian side and is also the director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, shared Witkoff’s post and expressed gratitude for the productive meeting.
Prior to this meeting, Witkoff indicated on CNBC that Washington sees signs of a potential breakthrough in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
On March 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that a U.S. attack on Iran would not impact the trilateral talks with Russia. He mentioned that the next round of discussions was anticipated to occur on March 5 or 6.
However, on March 4, a source from the Ukrainian delegation stated that the exact date and location for the upcoming trilateral negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. had yet to be determined.
