In the early hours of March 10, Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted a significant number of drones launched by Russia, thwarting an extensive aerial assault. The attack involved 137 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas, originating from multiple locations within Russia.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the drones were deployed from regions including Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalove in Russia, and Hvardijske in Crimea. Approximately 80 of the drones were identified as Shahed models.
By 8:00 AM, Ukrainian forces reported that they had destroyed or suppressed 122 of the incoming drones through a coordinated effort involving aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups. The operation was a testament to the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense capabilities.
Despite the defensive measures, 12 of the drones managed to strike ten different locations, resulting in debris falling across ten areas. The Ukrainian Air Force has urged citizens to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols as the threat persists.
“The attack is ongoing, and several enemy drones remain in the airspace. Please follow safety guidelines!” the Air Force stated.
