On the night of March 9, Ukraine faced a significant aerial assault from Russia, which included the launch of two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 197 strike drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that its defense systems successfully neutralized 161 of these drones.

The drones were reportedly launched from various locations, including the Russian regions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, and Millerovo, as well as from Crimea. Approximately 120 of the drones were identified as Shahed models.

The Ukrainian defense response involved a coordinated effort from aviation units, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups. According to preliminary data released by military officials, as of 08:00, the air defense had intercepted or suppressed 161 enemy drones, including those of the Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types, across the northern, southern, and eastern regions of the country.

Additionally, the report indicated that two missiles and 36 strike drones impacted eight locations, with debris from the intercepted drones falling at one site. Military sources noted that the attack was ongoing, with several Russian drones still present in the airspace.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported a significant interception of Russian aerial attacks, neutralizing the majority of drones and missiles launched during a recent assault.
