Russian Forces Advance in Sumy Region, Civilians Reported Abducted

Recent developments in the Sumy region of Ukraine indicate that Russian military forces have made significant advances, particularly around the villages of Popivka, Vysoke, and Komarivka, with reports confirming the occupation of the village of Sopich.

According to information from Deep State, as of March 5, the area of Sopich, covering 2.43 square kilometers, remains classified as undefined on their maps. The situation has raised concerns regarding civilian safety and security.

“Russian troops entered a village in the Sumy region, abducting local residents and transporting them to Russia. However, we are currently implementing countermeasures and believe we will stabilize the situation soon,” stated General Mykola Malomuzh, a former head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, in an interview with Suspilne on March 8.

Reports indicate that 19 Ukrainian citizens were taken from Sopich. Ukraine’s Ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, has reached out to his Russian counterpart regarding these abductions. The local community leader, Serhiy Minakov, confirmed that the individuals in the video were indeed residents of the village.

Communication with the remaining villagers has been disrupted, and it is noted that 19 residents declined evacuation, choosing to stay in Sopich. Prior to these events, the village had a population of 303, including 13 children under the age of 14.

Russian forces have reportedly occupied the village of Sopich in the Sumy region, leading to the abduction of 19 local residents. Authorities are working on countermeasures to address the situation and ensure civilian safety.
