In the early hours of March 4, Ukrainian forces reported a significant drone assault by Russia, involving 149 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. The Ukrainian Air Force indicated that their air defense systems successfully neutralized 129 of these drones during the operation.
The attack originated from multiple locations, including Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from the Crimean Peninsula. According to the Ukrainian military, approximately 100 of the drones used in the assault were of the Shahed type.
By 08:30 local time, Ukrainian aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups had engaged the incoming drones, achieving a high interception rate across various regions of the country, including the north, south, and east.
Despite the defensive success, the attack resulted in 19 drones striking 15 different locations, with debris reported to have fallen in one area. The Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens to remain vigilant as the situation continued to evolve.
“The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still active in the airspace. Please adhere to safety protocols,” the Air Force stated.
