The Ukrainian government has not included Kyiv’s energy resilience plan in the national budget allocated for city assistance. This decision was communicated during a recent cabinet meeting, leaving city officials seeking alternative support.
Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, expressed disappointment, stating that the capital will not receive help at this time. He noted that the city’s proposals were submitted on schedule to the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, and that top experts were involved in the plan’s development. Klitschko criticized the cabinet’s decision, suggesting it reflects a politically motivated bias against Kyiv.
In light of the situation, Klitschko indicated that city authorities are actively exploring options to adjust their plans. He pointed out that resilience plans from other cities have been approved by military administration heads, while Kyiv’s plan requires the mayor’s signature and subsequent approval from the city council.
Kyiv's energy resilience plan has been excluded from the national budget for city support, prompting the mayor to seek alternative solutions. The decision has raised concerns about potential political motivations behind the lack of assistance for the capital.
