The Ukrainian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has confirmed that the situation in the country remains stable and under control. In a response to inquiries from Radio Free Europe, embassy officials stated they are in continuous contact with Ukrainian citizens residing in the UAE.
While the embassy did not confirm any plans for the evacuation of Ukrainian nationals, it emphasized that support is being provided in the form of advisory services related to temporary residence, interactions with airlines, hotels, and local authorities. However, the embassy did not specify how many Ukrainians have sought such assistance.
On March 2, international airports in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi began operating special flights. The General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE (GCAA) has advised passengers whose flights have been disrupted not to proceed to the airports until they receive official notifications from airlines regarding flight schedules and details.
These developments follow a joint operation by the United States and Israel on February 28, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several other high-ranking officials of the Iranian regime. In retaliation, Iranian military forces launched missile and drone attacks not only against Israel and U.S. military installations in the region but also targeted several neighboring countries perceived as U.S. allies, including reports of explosions in the UAE.
On the same day, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha engaged in telephone discussions with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, requesting necessary protection and care for Ukrainians currently in the country.
The Ukrainian Embassy in the UAE has assured that the situation remains stable as they provide support to nationals in the region. Following recent military actions in the area, Ukrainian officials are in contact with local authorities to ensure the safety of their citizens.
