Zelensky Warns Putin as US and Israel Launch Military Operation Against Iran

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on the recent military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iran, suggesting that these developments serve as a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the consequences of dictatorship.

In his remarks, Zelensky recalled Russia’s previous failures as an ally during the Syrian conflict, where Putin was unable to support the Assad regime effectively. He expressed concern that the current situation mirrors those past failures.

“They have demonstrated their weakness as allies; they are ineffective,” Zelensky stated, emphasizing that Russia’s military resources are primarily focused on its ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader pointed out that Russia lacks the capacity to assist its allies, asserting, “They have no more forces left. What is happening in Iran is a good signal for Putin to see what dictatorship leads to.”

The military operation, which began on February 28, 2026, involved coordinated airstrikes targeting military infrastructure across various Iranian cities, including Tehran. The U.S. government described the campaign as a necessary response to perceived threats posed by the Iranian regime, aiming to diminish its capacity for aggressive actions.

Reports from Iranian state media confirmed the deaths of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials due to the strikes, prompting outrage in Tehran. Iranian authorities have vowed to retaliate with what they termed the “harshest operation possible.” In response, Iran has launched attacks against several Gulf Arab nations.

Additionally, there are reports of a strike on a nuclear facility in the Iranian city of Natanz, which has drawn attention from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Ukrainian President Zelensky warns that the recent U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran highlights Russia's weaknesses as an ally. The operation has led to significant casualties in Iran and prompted threats of retaliation from Tehran.
