Canada Supports US Actions Against Iran’s Nuclear Program

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed support for the United States’ efforts to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, emphasizing the need to prevent further threats to international peace and security. In a statement released on social media, Carney described Iran as a source of instability and terrorism in the Middle East.

Carney asserted that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, reaffirming Canada’s commitment to protect its citizens and diplomatic missions. “Canada’s position is clear: the Islamic Republic of Iran is a primary source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East, has one of the worst human rights records globally, and must never be permitted to obtain or develop nuclear weapons,” he stated.

“Canada and other nations have consistently called on the Iranian regime to cease its nuclear program,” Carney added.

He noted that despite diplomatic efforts, Iran has not fully dismantled its nuclear activities, continuing its uranium enrichment and support for regional terrorist proxy groups.

“Despite diplomatic efforts, Iran has not completely eliminated its nuclear program, has not halted all uranium enrichment activities, and has not ceased its support for regional terrorist proxy groups,” Carney remarked.

Additionally, Carney called for the protection of civilians during military operations in the region. “We will take all possible measures to protect our citizens and Canadian diplomatic missions throughout the region,” he said, expressing solidarity with Iranians in their ongoing struggle against the repressive regime.

Military Operations Against Iran

On February 28, Israel launched an attack on Tehran, prompting a response from U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced the initiation of a “major military operation” against Iran aimed at eliminating perceived threats from the Iranian regime. Trump accused the Iranian government of financing and training militants in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and supporting Hamas in Palestine. He stated that the operation’s objectives include destroying Iran’s missile industry and naval capabilities, as well as preventing global destabilization.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported launching missiles and drones targeting Israel, and also attacked U.S. military bases in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

In light of the U.S. military actions, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council.

The European Union reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring regional security and stability in the Middle East.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the situation, advocating for giving Iranians a chance to rid themselves of the “terrorist regime” and ensure safety for all nations affected by attacks from Iran.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has voiced support for U.S. actions aimed at dismantling Iran's nuclear program, labeling Iran a significant source of regional instability. The situation escalated following military operations initiated by Israel and the U.S. against Iran, with international calls for security and stability in the region.
