On February 26, Ukraine received the remains of 1,000 individuals believed to be fallen defenders, as part of ongoing repatriation efforts.
The Coordination Headquarters announced that these remains were returned following prior notifications from the Russian side regarding their potential identification as Ukrainian soldiers. The repatriation process aims to honor those who have lost their lives in the conflict.
Following the return, law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with expert representatives, will conduct identification procedures for the repatriated remains.
The Coordination Headquarters expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance and support in facilitating these repatriation efforts.
It is noteworthy that the previous exchange occurred on January 29, when another 1,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian military personnel were returned to Ukraine as part of similar repatriation initiatives.
Ukraine has successfully repatriated 1,000 remains of soldiers, marking a significant step in ongoing efforts to identify and honor fallen defenders. The process, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross, underscores the continuing impact of the conflict on military personnel and their families.
