Ukrainian Air Force Launches Investigation into Corruption Allegations

The Ukrainian Air Force has initiated an internal investigation following reports from law enforcement regarding corruption involving its logistics commander and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in a regional office. The allegations pertain to misconduct during the construction of shelters for aircraft.

In a statement, the Air Force expressed its commitment to cooperating with investigative authorities, pledging to provide all necessary information and documentation to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case.

“We emphasize that all officials involved in any unlawful actions must be held accountable according to current Ukrainian legislation if proven guilty. Our highest principle is to maintain public trust in the Armed Forces and to respond promptly to any facts that may undermine our defense capabilities,”

the statement read.

General Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko confirmed that both the logistics commander of the Air Force and the SBU official were detained on corruption charges related to the construction of the aircraft shelters. In May 2025, 1.4 billion UAH was allocated for the construction of modular arch structures.

Kravchenko noted that inspections by the SBU’s Military Counterintelligence Department revealed serious violations, including non-compliance with safety standards, inadequate protection for aviation, and inflated costs for the work. Despite these issues, advance payments were reportedly made under the contracts.

According to the Office of the General Prosecutor, to conceal the embezzlement of public funds and halt the inspections, the logistics commander allegedly solicited the SBU head in the region to assist in bribing the military counterintelligence leadership. The SBU official reportedly agreed and acted as a “guarantor” of the arrangement, having personally involved one of the contractors in the scheme.

The Ukrainian Air Force has begun an investigation into corruption allegations involving top officials linked to the construction of aircraft shelters. Detained officials are accused of serious violations and embezzlement of public funds.
