On February 24, the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council will convene special sessions to mark the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This announcement was made by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs via Telegram.
The eleventh emergency special session of the General Assembly is scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM Kyiv time. During this session, participants will discuss the consequences of the conflict and explore necessary steps to achieve a “comprehensive, just, and lasting peace” in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
Additionally, a high-level meeting of the Security Council will take place at 10:00 PM Kyiv time, focusing on the humanitarian aspects of the war and international efforts aimed at its resolution.
In related developments, it has been reported that on the same day, French President Emmanuel Macron will gather a coalition of nations. The aim of this meeting is to strengthen the collaborative efforts of over 30 countries that have united their military resources to ensure peace in Ukraine.
The UN will hold special sessions to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of Russia's invasion. Discussions will focus on the war's consequences and international peace efforts.
