Russian Airstrikes Target Residential Areas in Sumy Region, Injuring Civilians

Russian forces launched airstrikes using guided bombs on residential areas in the Sumy region of Ukraine, resulting in injuries to at least one civilian. Oleg Grygorov, the head of the regional military administration, confirmed the attack, which struck the Velikochernechchyna community.

According to Grygorov, the strikes occurred in the vicinity of civilian homes, leading to damage and destruction of properties. A 36-year-old man sustained injuries while near the impact site.

These airstrikes are part of a broader pattern of attacks by Russian military forces, which have increasingly targeted Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure across various regions. This includes the use of drones, missiles, and multiple rocket launch systems.

Ukrainian authorities and international organizations have classified these attacks as war crimes, emphasizing their deliberate nature. They argue that the assaults on essential services and healthcare facilities aim to deprive civilians of electricity, heating, water supply, communication, medical assistance, and other vital living conditions.

In response to these allegations, Russian officials have denied that their military intentionally targets civilian infrastructure, asserting that they do not aim to harm the civilian population or destroy hospitals, schools, and energy facilities.

Recent airstrikes by Russian forces in the Sumy region have resulted in civilian injuries and damage to residential properties. Ukrainian authorities continue to classify such attacks as war crimes, while Russian officials deny targeting civilians.
