U.S. President Donald Trump expressed surprise over Iran’s continued reluctance to agree to limitations on its nuclear program, despite the increased military presence of the United States in the region.
The U.S. has deployed significant naval and air forces to the Middle East, a move that Trump expected would lead to greater flexibility from Tehran. According to a special envoy, Trump is puzzled by Iran’s lack of engagement in direct discussions regarding its nuclear ambitions.
“I don’t want to use the word ‘disappointed’ because he understands he has many alternatives, but he is curious why they haven’t done it… I don’t want to use the word ‘capitulated,’ but why haven’t they capitulated?”
The envoy noted that Trump is struggling to comprehend why, under such pressure, Iran has not initiated dialogue concerning its nuclear program.
The situation is becoming increasingly critical as Iran enriches uranium to 60%, a level that significantly exceeds the requirements for peaceful energy purposes. The envoy warned that delays in addressing this issue pose a serious risk to global security.
“They will likely have materials for producing industrial bombs within a week, and that is truly dangerous,”
he emphasized. Currently, the U.S. demands not only a halt to Iran’s nuclear developments but also an end to its support for militant groups and limitations on its missile program.
President Trump has expressed confusion over Iran's intransigence regarding its nuclear program, despite significant U.S. military deployments. The situation is deemed critical as Iran's uranium enrichment levels rise, raising global security concerns.
