Ukrainian paratroopers are actively conducting operations in the Alexandrovka direction, aiming to drive Russian forces beyond the Dnipropetrovsk region, as reported by the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces on social media.
The primary objectives of the operation include disrupting Russian plans for further advancement in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, defeating enemy troops, and pushing them back beyond the administrative borders of Dnipropetrovsk.
According to the Ukrainian military, the situation is highly dynamic. Despite ongoing aggressive assaults from Russian forces, Ukrainian units are successfully repelling attacks and executing offensive maneuvers.
Since the operation commenced, Ukrainian troops have reportedly regained control over more than 300 square kilometers and eight populated areas.
Reports from Radio Liberty’s Donbas.Realii project indicate that the Russian army may be preparing for a significant new offensive this spring and summer, likely targeting the Slovyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration and/or the Orikhiv-Zaporizhzhia area. Analyst Kostiantyn Mashovets from the ‘Information Resistance’ group suggested that this could be Russia’s last major push on the front, given its dwindling resources and escalating economic issues domestically.
Earlier this winter, Ukrainian Defense Forces managed to adjust Russia’s plans by initiating counteroffensive actions at the junction of the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, pushing the aggressor back from Pokrovsk and further from Orikhiv to the east. Reports from pro-Russian channels indicate that Ukrainian advances in this area are ongoing.
On February 16, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Ukrainian troops are conducting effective counterattacks and assault operations in the Alexandrovka direction and around Huliaipole.
