In the early hours of February 22, Russian military forces initiated a significant assault on Kyiv, utilizing drones and missiles that resulted in damage to a residential high-rise building, igniting a fire on its roof.
The air raid alert for the capital was issued at 3:56 AM, initially indicating a potential ballistic threat. This was later expanded to a nationwide alert as a MiG-31K took off from Russia.
By 4:39 AM, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported the presence of hostile strike drones approaching the city. At 6:23 AM, the Air Forces confirmed ongoing attacks involving both drones and cruise missiles targeting Kyiv.
Shortly thereafter, at 6:33 AM, Timur Tkachенко, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, provided updates on the situation. He stated, “As a result of the attack, a residential building in the Svyatoshynskyi district was damaged. A fire has erupted on the roof of the structure. We are currently verifying information regarding any casualties.”
