Recent developments in the Kharkiv region indicate significant destruction in the city of Vovchansk, as Russian forces continue their attempts to advance. According to Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Group, Ukrainian Defense Forces are maintaining their positions in southern areas despite the ongoing pressure.
“The Russians have effectively destroyed the city of Vovchansk,” Trehubov stated during a televised briefing. He noted that while Ukrainian forces are holding their ground in the southern regions, Russian troops are attempting to outflank them, particularly towards the settlements of Lyptsy and Vovchanski Khutory.
Trehubov elaborated that if Russian forces fail to displace Ukrainian soldiers, they may attempt to circumvent them and occupy nearby populated areas. “They will not succeed in occupation, but the pressure is serious. Unlike in Kupiansk, where Russian troops retreated and have been unable to regain their positions, here the pressure remains constant and the Russians are striving to advance,” he emphasized.
