Germany and Switzerland Advance to Quarterfinals in Men’s Ice Hockey at 2026 Olympics

Germany and Switzerland have secured their places in the quarterfinals of the men’s ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Germany triumphed over France with a score of 5-1, while Switzerland defeated Italy 3-0.

The quarterfinal matches are scheduled for February 18, with Germany set to face Slovakia and Switzerland competing against Finland.

In other Olympic events, Norway’s Jens Lurås Oftebro won the second ski jumping combined event. Austrian Johannes Lamparter claimed silver, finishing 5.9 seconds behind Oftebro, while Finland’s Ilkka Herola took bronze, trailing by 14.8 seconds. This victory marks Norway’s 13th gold medal at the current Olympics and 29th overall.

In biathlon, the Ukrainian men’s relay team will be represented by Dmitro Pidruchnyi, Bohdan Borkovsky, Vitalii Mandzyn, and Taras Lesiuk. The event is being broadcast live on various platforms, including YouTube and local channels.

Ukraine’s women’s relay team has also been announced, consisting of Oleksandra Merkusina, Yulia Dzhima, Kristina Dmytrenko, and Daryna Chalyk. The women’s relay is set to take place on February 18 at 15:45, with live coverage available on multiple channels.

Ukrainian ski jumpers have concluded their participation in the 2026 Olympics. Both Yevhen Marusiak and Vitalii Kalinichenko did not advance past the initial round in individual events, and their team finished in 14th place. Following the completion of the jumps, Marusiak provided a candid reflection on the outcomes for Ukrainian sports.
