Ukrainian Prosecutors Charge Russian General Over Missile Strike on Kyiv

Ukrainian prosecutors have formally charged a Russian major general in connection with a missile strike on Kyiv’s television tower at the onset of the full-scale invasion in March 2022.

According to the investigation, the strike occurred on March 1, 2022, following orders from the accused general, who directed the launch of X-101 cruise missiles. The attack resulted in the deaths of five civilians and left six others injured.

The missile strike caused significant damage to the television tower, residential buildings, and the National University of Health Sciences in Ukraine, among other civilian infrastructure.

In a related investigation, two additional Russian generals have also been implicated. These individuals include the commander of the Russian Air Force’s long-range aviation and the leader of the 121st Heavy Bomber Regiment, both of whom were involved in planning and executing the attack.

Furthermore, Ukrainian intelligence reports indicate that the accused general has been linked to the orchestration of other missile strikes carried out by Russian strategic aviation against Ukrainian cities, which have led to extensive destruction of civilian infrastructure and loss of life.

These strikes have included the use of X-22, X-32, X-101/102, and X-555 cruise missiles targeting energy and civilian facilities across Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities have charged a Russian general for his role in a missile strike on Kyiv's television tower, which resulted in civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. This action is part of a broader investigation involving multiple Russian military officials linked to attacks on Ukrainian cities.
