Airstrike Damages Energy Infrastructure in Belgorod Region, Russia

An airstrike on the Belgorod region of Russia has resulted in damage to energy infrastructure, although no casualties have been reported. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod, provided an update on the situation on the evening of February 15.

Governor Gladkov stated that preliminary assessments indicate significant damage to energy facilities. Emergency and operational services are currently assessing the extent of the damage, with further information expected to be released shortly.

According to the Telegram channel ‘Pepel-Belgorod’, the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant and the Frunzensky Substation were targeted in the strikes. While the specific damages to the substation remain unclear, the report noted that there was no widespread blackout during the attacks in Belgorod and the surrounding area.

Ukrainian military officials have not commented on the reports from Russia. The Russian military has been conducting regular strikes on energy infrastructure in Ukraine, leading to power outages and, at times, a lack of heating and water for residents in various regions, including Kyiv. In recent months, similar reports of damage have emerged from several Russian regions, including Belgorod.

An airstrike in Belgorod, Russia, has caused damage to energy facilities, according to local officials. While no injuries have been reported, the situation reflects ongoing military operations affecting energy infrastructure in both Russia and Ukraine.
