Ukraine’s Government Plans to Finalize Naftogaz Supervisory Board Next Week

The Ukrainian government anticipates the approval of the supervisory board for Naftogaz next week, according to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. She made this announcement during a press briefing, addressing questions about the results of a previously announced audit of state companies, particularly in the energy sector.

The competition for positions on the supervisory board was initiated in November following a decision to audit state-owned enterprises, prompted by a significant corruption scheme uncovered by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) in the energy sector.

Svyrydenko noted that interviews for the Naftogaz supervisory board have already been completed, and the nomination committee is set to identify candidates for government appointment. “We expect the formation of the Naftogaz supervisory board next week,” she stated.

Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed hope that Energoatom would not delay in appointing a new leader. “The state audit is ongoing, and interim results have been submitted to the Energoatom supervisory board. They may also engage an international auditor. I hope Energoatom will not procrastinate in appointing a director,” she added.

Earlier in January, the government appointed a new supervisory board for Energoatom. Independent members have already signed contracts, with the first meeting of the updated board scheduled for next week.

Overall, Svyrydenko mentioned that an audit of twelve state energy companies is currently underway.

The Ukrainian government is set to finalize the supervisory board for Naftogaz next week, following a recent audit of state energy companies. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko expressed confidence in the timely appointment of board members and leadership at Energoatom.
