Ukrainian freestyler Kateryna Kotsar has secured a spot in the finals of the 2026 Winter Olympics in big air after finishing 11th in the qualification round.
The qualification event featured 27 female athletes competing in big air, with 12 advancing to the finals based on their highest scores from two attempts. Kotsar participated in this event, showcasing her skills in front of an international audience.
Throughout the qualification, each competitor had three attempts, and the final scores were determined by the best two jumps. Kotsar executed a similar routine in her first and third attempts, which included a double flip with a leftward rotation and a mute grab. In her initial jump, she achieved three full rotations, while in her third attempt, she increased the difficulty to three and a half rotations, totaling 1260 degrees. However, she fell during her third jump, which affected her overall score.
In her second jump, Kotsar initiated with a backslide, followed by a shoulder rotation (misty flip), two and a half rotations, and a safety grab.
The highest score in the qualification round was achieved by Canadian athlete Megan Oldham, a bronze medalist in slopestyle, who scored 91.25 points on her first attempt, culminating in a total of 171.75 points.
