Ukrainian President Zelensky Discusses Upcoming Trilateral Talks in Geneva

On the evening of February 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held discussions with U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner ahead of trilateral meetings scheduled in Geneva.

Zelensky expressed optimism regarding the potential outcomes of the Geneva talks, stating, “We expect that the meetings will indeed be productive.” He noted that certain developments from previous discussions in Abu Dhabi would be addressed, emphasizing that not all details could be shared via phone. The Ukrainian negotiation team is set to present Ukraine’s position next week.

In a previous address on February 12, Zelensky indicated Ukraine’s readiness for renewed discussions with the Russian delegation aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict. He reiterated the importance of dialogue in achieving a peaceful resolution.

According to a communiqué following the trilateral negotiations held in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5, delegations from the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia discussed strategies for implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities. The talks also resulted in an agreement between the U.S. and Russia to restore high-level military dialogue.

Presidential advisor Dmytro Lytvyn confirmed that negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, and the U.S. are scheduled for February 17-18 in Geneva.

Ukrainian President Zelensky is preparing for trilateral talks in Geneva with U.S. representatives and Russia, aiming to address the ongoing conflict. The discussions follow prior negotiations in Abu Dhabi, where ceasefire strategies were explored.
