A Russian negotiation team is set to arrive in Geneva on February 17, consisting of at least 15 members, including Mikhail Galuzin, according to an unnamed source from a Russian media outlet.
Galuzin is recognized as a strong proponent of President Vladimir Putin’s aggressive foreign policy, particularly regarding Ukraine. He has consistently advocated for Moscow’s stance on what he terms ‘new territorial realities’ and has emphasized that any resolution is contingent upon Ukraine’s recognition of the occupied territories.
Additionally, Galuzin has criticized Western support for Ukraine, labeling it a factor that prolongs the conflict. His inclusion in the delegation suggests that Putin is relying on established representatives for these discussions, having previously led the Russian team during negotiations in Istanbul in May 2025 alongside Kremlin aide Vladimir Medinsky.
During those talks, Galuzin served as the primary spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, articulating demands for Ukraine’s neutral status and the cessation of Western arms supplies. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had earlier indicated that Medinsky would lead the Russian delegation in the upcoming negotiations, known for his controversial interpretations of historical events.
