Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed Law No. 12353, which grants police the authority to evacuate children from active combat zones without parental consent. This legislative measure aims to enhance the safety of minors amid ongoing military conflicts.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine clarified that military administrations will make decisions regarding mandatory evacuations based on written requests from military command, in coordination with the Coordination Headquarters for Evacuation Operations.
The law allows for both general and partial evacuations, targeting specific vulnerable groups unable to evacuate independently due to age or health conditions. This includes children, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly.
As the situation in conflict areas remains precarious, this law seeks to ensure that those most at risk receive the necessary protection and assistance.
