On April 17, Ukrainian energy officials announced that there would be no scheduled power outages, although consumers are encouraged to conserve energy during evening hours.
This update comes from Ukrenergo, the country’s energy transmission operator, which noted a downward trend in electricity consumption. The drop is attributed to clear weather across many regions, enhancing the efficiency of residential solar power systems.
Ukrenergo recommended that consumers shift their energy use to the hours when solar panels are most effective, specifically between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. However, they stressed the importance of limiting the use of high-power appliances from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Impact of Ongoing Attacks
Despite the positive news regarding energy consumption, Russia continues its assaults on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As of this morning, drone strikes have left consumers without power in several regions, including Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv. Emergency restoration efforts have begun in areas where security conditions permit.
Ukrainian energy officials report a decrease in electricity consumption due to favorable weather conditions, urging consumers to conserve energy during peak evening hours. Meanwhile, ongoing attacks on the energy infrastructure continue to disrupt power supply in several regions.
