Fuel prices in Ukraine have experienced a notable increase recently, with expectations that this trend may persist in the near future.
Main Factors:
- Reasons: The primary driver of the price increase is the rise in global oil prices.
- Diesel: Prices are projected to exceed 90 UAH per liter.
- Gasoline: A significant increase of 3-4 UAH per liter is anticipated due to the substantial rise in global resource costs.
According to Serhiy Kuyun, director of the consulting group “A-95,” the recent uptick in gasoline and diesel prices is linked to rising global oil and petroleum product prices. He noted that in April, global gasoline prices increased by $137 per ton (approximately 4.5 UAH per liter), while domestic prices remained unchanged.
Kuyun emphasized that prices are expected to continue rising in the coming weeks. “We forecast that diesel prices will return to levels above 90 UAH per liter, with an increase of 2-3 UAH per liter. Gasoline prices will see a more significant rise due to substantial increases globally, estimated at 3-4 UAH per liter,” he stated.
Despite these price hikes, Kuyun reassured that there are currently no concerns regarding a potential fuel shortage in Ukraine.
Recent reports indicate a marked increase in fuel prices across major gas station networks in Ukraine over the weekend. The most significant rise was observed in premium gasoline at the “Ukrnafta” network, where prices surged by 4 UAH per liter. Other popular networks, including OKKO, WOG, and SOCAR, saw average increases of 1 UAH for both gasoline and diesel fuel.
In contrast, the market for autogas remains stable, with prices unchanged over the weekend.
Fuel prices in Ukraine are rising due to increasing global oil costs, with projections for further hikes in both gasoline and diesel. Despite these changes, experts do not foresee a fuel shortage.
