Ukrainian Soldiers Rescued After Year-Long Siege in Donetsk

Two soldiers from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” have been successfully extracted from a year-long encirclement in Donetsk. The operation, which lasted three days, involved reconnaissance units navigating enemy territory to reach the trapped soldiers.

The soldiers had been stationed in a defensive position near Kramatorsk for 365 days, maintaining their ground without any retreat or losses. Their situation became critical as changes in the front lines left them effectively surrounded.

According to updates shared on social media by the regiment, the soldiers were deployed to their positions at different times last year—one in March and the other in November. They were primarily stationed along a route near Sloviansk.

In a video released by the defenders, one soldier mentioned that they had to dig deeper into the ground to protect themselves from heavy enemy artillery fire.
