In January 2023, Ukrainian repair crews engaged in restoring the country’s energy infrastructure following Russian attacks received their first payments of 20,000 hryvnias as part of government support initiatives.
This announcement was made by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal. According to Svyrydenko, the payments are directed to employees in the heating and water supply sectors, totaling 4,725 individuals, including 1,057 railway workers. Oschadbank has transferred funds for January to energy companies for 12,500 repair workers.
Shmyhal emphasized the challenging conditions under which these specialists operate, working intensively to restore electricity, water, and heating to Ukrainian homes. He noted that the Cabinet of Ministers allocated 246.4 million hryvnias from the state budget’s reserve fund to support these efforts.
On January 23, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced these payments for workers in the fuel and energy sector, housing and communal services, and Ukrzaliznytsia, all of whom are involved in addressing the aftermath of Russian shelling.
The application process for the 20,000 hryvnia payments for emergency repair crews began on February 6 through the digital government services portal, Diia.
On February 18, the government also decided to establish an annual award for workers in the energy sector, recognizing their contributions during these critical times.
Ukrainian repair workers have begun receiving government support payments as part of ongoing efforts to restore energy services after Russian attacks. The initiative aims to recognize the challenging conditions faced by these workers and ensure the continued restoration of essential services.
