Ukraine’s Defense Achievements Highlighted by President Zelensky in Call with Macron

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported significant progress by the country’s armed forces during the winter months, emphasizing that all key defense positions have been maintained. This statement came during a recent conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Zelensky noted the importance of implementing European agreements that include a €90 billion support package for Ukraine over the next two years, as well as a new sanctions initiative against Russia. He stressed that these measures are crucial for sustaining Ukraine’s defense efforts.

During their discussion, Zelensky updated Macron on the current situation in Ukraine, including the repercussions of a recent large-scale Russian attack and ongoing developments at the front lines. The conversation also touched upon broader regional security issues, including the situation in the Middle East and Iran.

“Emmanuel supported our initiatives aimed at enhancing security in the region. Ukrainian defenses against Iranian drones have proven to be highly effective, and our experience can serve as a foundation for a more robust collective security framework with our partners,” Zelensky remarked.

Looking ahead, Zelensky mentioned that Ukraine and France are preparing for collaborative diplomatic efforts in the coming weeks, signaling a commitment to strengthen ties and coordinate actions in the face of ongoing challenges.
