Ukraine is actively engaging in security discussions with several countries in the Middle East and the Gulf region, while also laying the groundwork for deeper security agreements in Europe.
President Volodymyr Zelensky shared insights from a report by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, detailing the initial phase of collaboration with regional partners.
“It is important that Ukrainian military expertise is recognized, and the combat experience of our soldiers is becoming a vital part of the defense of our partners. Every nation deserves security, and we are ready to promptly and effectively support those who stand by our state and independence,” Zelensky emphasized.
The President noted that these discussions encompass protection against various types of drones in the air, as well as addressing maritime security challenges.
He pointed out that Ukraine’s experience in the Black Sea could be applied to other globally significant maritime routes.
Currently, Ukraine is in communication with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Syria, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain regarding security matters. There are also requests for cooperation from Iraq.
Zelensky added that discussions were held about the potential for joint efforts with countries in the Caucasus, as well as in East and Southeast Asia.
“There are substantial requests from African nations. We are preparing the foundation for deeper security agreements in Europe – we expect to achieve results this week. I have instructed the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to finalize drafts of several new security agreements and prepare them for signing,” he stated.
Ukraine is expanding its security cooperation with Middle Eastern countries while also preparing for new agreements in Europe. President Zelensky emphasized the importance of Ukrainian military expertise in global defense efforts.
