On Monday, March 23, Ukraine will implement scheduled power outages across all regions, alongside power restrictions for industrial consumers. These measures are a response to the ongoing challenges facing the country’s energy infrastructure.
Power cuts for residential users are set to occur from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. During this time, industrial consumers will also face power limitations.
The continuation of these restrictions is attributed to the effects of recent coordinated attacks by Russian forces on Ukraine’s energy facilities. In a statement, officials noted, “The situation in the energy system may change. For information on the timing and extent of outages in your area, please refer to the official pages of your regional energy providers.”
Ukrenergo, the national energy company, has urged all citizens to use electricity sparingly when it is available according to the schedule.
Since the autumn of 2022, Russia has resumed regular attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with intensified bombardments occurring during the winter months. These assaults have led to prolonged outages, leaving some cities without electricity, water, and heating for extended periods.
Recently, the frequency of power outages has increased again, primarily due to damage inflicted by Russian forces on critical energy transmission facilities.
Ukraine is set to enforce scheduled power outages on March 23 as part of ongoing efforts to manage its energy crisis. These measures follow a series of attacks on energy infrastructure by Russian forces, which have significantly impacted power availability across the country.
