Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky landed in London around 11:00 AM local time on March 17, 2023, to engage in a series of important discussions with British officials.
The first item on his agenda is a meeting with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. Following this, Zelensky will visit the residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer for a bilateral discussion, which will be followed by a trilateral meeting that includes NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Later in the day, Zelensky is scheduled to address members of the UK Parliament, highlighting the significance of his visit.
According to a statement from the British government, Zelensky and Starmer aim to establish a deeper defense and industrial partnership. This collaboration is expected to leverage Ukraine’s experience and the UK’s industrial capabilities to produce and supply drones and other innovative technologies.
Leaders are anticipated to finalize an expanded declaration focused on joint production and supply of drones and military technologies. Additionally, the agreement will explore opportunities for enhancing defense and technological cooperation with third countries.
Following his engagements in London, reports indicate that Zelensky will travel to Spain to meet with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and subsequently head to Brussels for a European Council meeting scheduled for March 19 and 20.
