The head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, announced that Russia has agreed to accept the security guarantees proposed by the United States for Ukraine.
During recent negotiations, Budanov stated, “The Russian side explicitly said that they will accept the security guarantees offered by the U.S. to Ukraine, and there is no way around it. They have made it clear that they will be compelled to accept what the U.S. is proposing.”
Budanov emphasized that these guarantees are essential for Ukraine and that Russia will need to respect them. He also remarked on the U.S. role, noting that while one may have differing opinions about the U.S., it is impossible to disregard its significance in the matter of security guarantees. He indicated that there is some progress on this front.
In his summary, Budanov expressed Ukraine’s desire for security guarantees to precede any further discussions. However, he acknowledged that the future remains uncertain. “We would all prefer to have security guarantees first and then address other issues. But how it will unfold is something only time will reveal. I believe that security guarantees will be activated alongside the conclusion of the war, if we reach that point. I see it this way. I’m not saying this is the only perspective, but I think it will happen like this,” he concluded.
