Ukraine Faces Surge in Drone and Missile Attacks from Russia

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russian forces launched nearly 1,750 drone strikes, 1,530 guided bombs, and 39 missiles against Ukraine over the past week, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky reported that these attacks have primarily targeted civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities and residential buildings. Despite the scale of the assaults, he noted that Ukrainian defenses have successfully intercepted many of the incoming threats.

The president emphasized the urgent need for enhanced air defense systems, particularly anti-aircraft missiles, to bolster Ukraine’s protective measures. He pointed to ongoing discussions with European partners regarding critical supplies and contributions under the PURL program.

“I thank everyone who continues to support us. We must further strengthen sanctions against Russia and its allies. Any resources that aid Russia in financing and perpetuating this war must be blocked,” Zelensky stated, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in addressing the crisis.

Ukraine has experienced a dramatic increase in attacks from Russia, with thousands of drone and missile strikes targeting civilian infrastructure. President Zelensky calls for enhanced air defense systems and continued international support to counter these threats.
