A 33-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a terrorist attack in Lviv that resulted in one death and multiple injuries. The charges include committing a terrorist act and illegal handling of weapons, as confirmed by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the suspect, a resident of Kostopol in the Rivne region, was apprehended following a series of investigative actions. Searches were conducted at her residence, leading to the seizure of evidence related to the alleged crime.
The authorities are preparing to request a court to impose a preventive measure of detention without the possibility of bail. This follows an incident on the night of February 22, when two explosions occurred in central Lviv.
Investigations revealed that the woman had planted two improvised explosive devices at a location on Danilyshyna Street shortly before the explosions. Reports indicate that the devices were likely activated remotely. After the explosions, the suspect fled the scene in a taxi.
Emergency services received a call around 12:30 AM from an individual in the Kharkiv region, claiming a break-in at a store on Danilyshyna Street. Upon the arrival of police, the first explosion occurred, followed by a second explosion when additional officers arrived.
As of the latest updates, 12 individuals remain hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the attack, with two in critical condition. The incident has raised concerns regarding potential links to Russian operatives, as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the attack was organized by Russia, with perpetrators recruited via social media platforms.
